Masters Level Student Intern
Vernicia is a Masters Level Graduate Student Intern, pursuing a degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, currently at the end of her graduate master’s program at the great Bethune Cookman University. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology also from Bethune Cookman University graduating with honors. Vernicia has worked within a hospital Psychiatric department with both adults and children for 3 years. She has also worked as a case manager at a Domestic Abuse facility providing case management, group therapy, crisis intervention, and assisting in treatment development. Vernicia provides individual, family and marriage therapy, couples therapy, and group counseling to adults, children, and adolescents.
She believes in working in partnership with clients to utilize their strengths, to help them sort their challenges and achieve their goals, while understanding that the clients are the experts of their lives. When human beings experience trauma or life stressors, it is normal for their lives to go downhill or to feel as if everything is falling apart rapidly. One of her great passions is bringing healing to people who have been through unexpected traumatic events in their lives. She aims to provide the most beneficial quality of care to those having difficulties with depression, trauma, emotional issues, anger, anxiety, abuse, self-esteem, relationship issues and PTSD. Vernicia uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Positive Psychotherapy, Mindfulness based, Solution and Emotion focused Therapy. Vernicia understands that no single approach is the right one for every individual but believes together we will seek out the most beneficial one. Faith is your guidance; strength is your shield.
