Last week a woman recognized me at the grocery store and walked up to me with just the slightest hint of tears in her eyes. She asked, “Can we talk for a minute?”

“Sure. What’s going on?” I guided her to the side for privacy.

“My husband told me last week that he is leaving me and wants a divorce,” she said. Her voice was barely above a whisper, “I need help. I don’t know what to do.”

She talked for about fifteen minutes. I listened. She gave me some of the details of her difficult story. Near the end she said, “I don’t have a lot of money and I cannot really afford to pay for counseling.”

“Don’t worry about that. Here is the number to our office. Call tomorrow and we will set you up with some help.”

… And, that is what I love about our mission. We help people regardless of their ability to pay. Money should never stand in the way of a broken heart getting help.
